ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed proposals for the Addition and Alterations to the Camden County Board of Education Administrative Offices will be received from qualified bidders in the office of the Superintendent of
Camden County Schools, Camden, NC, up to 9:45 AM on Tuesday, August 31st 2021, and will then be publicly opened and read aloud at 10 AM.
All bids shall be marked Addition and Alterations to 174 Highway 343 North. Only bids from qualified general contractors will be considered- General Contractors wishing to submit proposals shall submit the AIA Qualification Statement (A305-1986 ed.) with their proposal forms to be considered for this project.
Each bid shall be accompanied by a cash deposit or a certified check drawn on a bank or trust company authorized to do business in North Carolina, payable to Camden County Schools, in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid, as a guarantee that a contract will be entered into. In lieu of cash or a certified check, the Bidder may submit a bid bond in the form prescribed in N.C. Gen. Stat. § 143-129.
Bids shall be lump sum amounts, based upon the scope of work defined in the Bidding Documents.
A Pre-Bid Meeting will be held at the site at 10:00 a.m., local time on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
Prospective prime bidders are requested to attend.
Prospective prime bidders may submit requests for clarification and interpretation to the Architect by email until 5:00 p.m., local time on Monday, August 23, 2021. An Addendum with responses to requests for clarification and interpretation received by this date and time will be issued to prospective prime bidders by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2021.

All bidders must meet the licensing requirements under Chapter 87 of the N.C. General Statutes. Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB) including small, women-owned, and minority businesses, and local (Section 3) firms are encouraged to submit bids and to be utilized by contractors and subcontractors. A goal of 10% Minority Business Participation is desired.
The successful bidder will be required to submit a Performance Bond and a Labor and Materials Payment Bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract sum.
Payment to the Contractor will be made on the basis of ninety percent (90%) of monthly estimates, and final payment will be made upon completion and acceptance of the work.
No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) days.
Camden County Schools reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and to waive informalities, as it may deem to be in its best interest.
